Sérgio is a Velocity Partner for Google’s AI & Infrastructure team, where he accelerates the deployment of critical infrastructure to meet the global surge in AI compute demand. Since joining Google in 2012, he has become a specialist in scaling complex systems and businesses, and driving innovation. Previously, Sérgio led Google’s Business Operations and Strategy (BizOps), where he spearheaded enterprise-wide initiatives to optimize strategic, operational, and organizational performance.
Prior to Google, Sérgio was a Partner at McKinsey & Company based in Lisbon, Portugal. His work focused primarily on the telecoms, media and technology (TMT) sectors, and spanned all continents. He was also part of the leadership team for Pricing in TMT. Earlier in his career, he spent some time as a Systems Engineer at a VC funded gaming start-up based in Finland, and also as a Teaching Associate at UCLA.
Sérgio holds an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management and an MSc in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Technical University of Lisbon.
