Melissa Rudd

Within our finance team, I work on both the controllership and tax side of the house. I own our close process, help manage our deal process and monitor our portfolio investments, and support the tax team with distributions and other tax reporting work. Alongside that, I’ve spent the past two years automating and improving workflows where I can, whether through scripts and other technical tools or, more recently, AI skills and scheduled tasks. I’m a true believer that the more time we save on manual work, the more time we have for sharper analysis and better decisions.

Prior to joining CapitalG in 2024, I was a senior audit associate at KPMG, where I served clients in the alternative investment space and built custom technology routines to automate substantive procedures. I hold a BBA in accounting with a minor in management information systems (MIS) and a Master in Professional Accounting (MPA), both from the University of Texas at Austin (Hook ‘Em!). I’m also a CPA. Outside of work, you’ll find me on a run, a coffee walk, or at pilates. And even after moving out to California, I’m still watching the Longhorns and Cowboys every fall weekend.
