Elaine Sun

Legal Counsel

Elaine joined CapitalG in 2024 as legal counsel. She advises the firm on venture capital and growth equity financings, private equity co-investments, IPOs, M&A exits, portfolio management, and other legal and transactional matters.

Before coming to CapitalG in 2024, I worked at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP, where I represented private equity firms and public and private companies in mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and other corporate transactions. Prior to that, I was an M&A associate at Kirkland & Ellis LLP and at O’Melveny & Myers LLP.

I have a BA in Philosophy and minors in Chinese and Music from UC Berkeley and a JD from Columbia Law School. In my free time, I enjoy exploring the hidden corners of Northern California with my dog Thor and am constantly on the hunt for the best dumplings and banh mi in San Francisco.
