Celebrating CapitalG's Newest General Partners: Jill Chase and Alex Nichols

CapitalG was created to empower entrepreneurs with Alphabet and Google's unparalleled expertise in growth. Over more than a decade, we have been privileged to partner with inspiring founders and transformative tech companies, from Luis von Ahn at Duolingo and George Kurtz at CrowdStrike to Patrick and John Collison at Stripe and Ali Ghodsi at Databricks.

Today, we are thrilled to congratulate two talented investors on becoming CapitalG's newest General Partners: Jill Chase and Alex Nichols. The work that Jill and Alex do every day helps make CapitalG the partner of choice for the world’s most ambitious entrepreneurs.

Jill Chase: Leading the AI Frontier

Jill specializes in AI, having established a strong network and knowledge base well before the recent wave of interest in the sector. Known for her sharp intelligence and charisma, Jill stays ahead of the rapidly changing AI landscape by diving deeply into industry trends and building close, authentic relationships with founders and the AI sector’s leading minds at Google and beyond.

An operator-turned-investor, Jill previously founded a YC-backed startup and served as CEO of a private equity-backed company before joining CapitalG in 2020.

Jill’s deep learning orientation and engaging interpersonal style have made her an integral partner to many founders. Her incredible portfolio companies include Abridge, Baseten, Canva, /dev/agents, LangChain, Magic, Motif, Physical Intelligence (Pi), and Rippling.

Jill recently shared, “The greatest joy of this job is the long-term partnership, getting to truly build something world-changing alongside founders via close collaboration. That high level of trust is our competitive advantage and an incredible privilege.”

Alex Nichols: Shifts in Market Structure

Alex applies a focused thematic lens to generalist investing. He looks for a consistent pattern across industries: companies using technology to rethink distribution or economics, then cementing that lead through scale.

His portfolio, including Whatnot, Stripe, Duolingo, UiPath, Rippling, Base Power, Tebi, and Odoo, highlight the breadth of his interests and his ability to build strong, high-trust relationships with world-leading founders.

Since joining CapitalG in 2018, Alex has consistently offered a unique, thoughtful perspective on macro trends, approaching investing as a study of progress through creative destruction. He looks for large, unique markets coupled with a clear "why now” moment for technical change, alongside compelling founder-market fit.

Alex recently shared, “Technology is the engine of economic progress and startups are the conduit through which these advancements reach the world. Our founders have the tenacity to reject inertia and build the future they envision. Working with them is an incredible privilege and source of joy.”

A Partnership Built on Excellence

Jill and Alex embody CapitalG’s collaborative culture. Over the years, they’ve meaningfully strengthened our firm's portfolio, culture, and success, and they’ve demonstrated that teamwork, high integrity and trust are–rightfully–competitive advantages in earning the right to work with the best founders.

Please congratulate Jill Chase and Alex Nichols on their well-deserved promotions. We are deeply grateful for their outstanding contributions and look forward to the continued impact they will drive for CapitalG and our portfolio companies in the years ahead.
