Shelby Johnston

As a GTM advisor to CapitalG, Shelby Johnston guides software companies in building their go-to-market strategies with Google Cloud. In her full-time role leading Google Cloud's North America Channel and Ecosystems team, she drives growth for Google's managed services partners. With a proven track record of executing successful marketing and sales strategies in dynamic environments, Shelby leads the North America Partner development organization, focusing on revenue growth for top managed service providers and enabling them to adapt to the rapidly changing landscape. Her experience includes managing key strategic partnerships with organizations like Oracle, Dell, and Sun Microsystems, as well as leading relationships with major advertisers such as Disney, L'Oreal, and HBO. In 2022, she led her newly formed Google Cloud organization to double-digit growth and developed its 2023 strategy.
Throughout her 20-year career at Google, Shelby has held diverse leadership roles, including leading the North America ISV business and teams within the Google Marketing Platform organization. Prior to joining Google Cloud, she spent 15 years in Google’s ad organization before making the move to Google's fastest-growing division.
Shelby grew up in Virginia and is an alumna of Virginia Tech. She now raises a family with her husband, Aaron, in Lower Manhattan. She loves doing all things sports with her daughter, Dylan, and son, Hunter. One of her favorite business books of the last year is Adam Grant's "Think Again." She tries to apply Grant’s models to her day-to-day business challenges and believes intellectual curiosity is the lifeblood of all great ideas.
