Over the course of her 20+ year career, Melissa has worked with many dozens of startups, big tech companies and VC and PE firms in both in-house and agency roles. Prior to joining CapitalG, she spent eight years running a VC-focused communications consultancy elevating the profiles of investment executives, their firms, and their portfolio companies. Earlier in her career she worked in marketing, communications, and government affairs at Yahoo, HP, BEA (acquired by Oracle), and several startups.

Melissa lives in the Bay Area with her husband (also an Alphabet employee) and teenage boys. She has an MBA from Berkeley’s Haas School of Business where she was a Management of Technology Fellow and a BA from Rice University where she graduated cum laude and received the school’s outstanding woman award.
